12 Angry Men Essay

With attention to the human nature in the play 12 angry men, many good and bad characteristics were shown throughout the jurors. As numerous points directed to human nature were shown, the one that stood out the most would be with Juror number eight. With Juror number eight’s open mind and availability to talk about the trial, it showed a good act of human nature for many reasons. \Throughout the play many jurors stumbled on giving a verdict to the young defendant. As many jurors walked into the room with the mindset of guilty, juror number eight was not afraid express the fact that he saw reasonable doubt and voted not guilty. As juror number eight sat there all alone in the position of voting not guilty, many others tried to deplete his thoughts and have him vote guilty so that they could all return to their homes. Juror eight kept his opinion of not guilty strong.

As juror number eight did not change his vote for pointless reasons, though the other jurors would have liked him too. Juror eight proceeded to have everyone talk about the trail. Juror number eight was the only juror out of twelve that in some way stuck up for this young child’s innocence. The human nature juror eight showed was extremely helpful to the whole trial. Without juror eight in the room, the boy may have been charged with a guilty verdict. With juror eight bringing the reasonable doubt to all the other jurors’ attention, he seemed to care for others more than himself. Juror eights human nature didn’t consist of himself, it was meant for another young child whose life was in his and the other jurors hands.

Though some jurors believed that the young boy should be found guilty, juror eight seemed to persuade the others with his human nature. With juror eights good intentions, and knowing that he controlled this young boys future with the verdict he made sure that the whole trial was repeated.
