As the news goes, Rahul Dravid has been called for the ODIs.. Some people consider thet we (Indian team) have ran out of resources for the one dayers and that is why we called Dravid back! Just go back to the time, yeah right into the late 90s when he was dropped out of the team because of his strike rate..but when he came back after a few years, he had improved his skills and he had completely turned around his approach to the ODIs..he added shots like late cut, paddle sweep, lofted on drive to the list of strokes like pull (Dravid is known for it), leg glance, square cut (when he plays it on the back foot to spinners I just feel like watching it again and again) etc, etc.. Let me give you some statistics, from his debut in 1996 till the end of 1998 he played in 65 matches, scoring 1709 runs at a middling average of 31.64 and a below-par strike rate of 63.48. Since the start of 1999 to the present, he has played in 274 matches scoring 9056 runs with an average of 41.35 and a strike-rate of 72.84. In other words, Dravid raised his average and strike-rate by about ten points each. He was dropped again in 2009, at that time he must have said to himself that- it's okay, they dropped me in ODIs let me do my best in tests..and he kept on doing it for years whenever he needed him to do it..How often did we see Dravid holding on to one end of the crease when there was chaos at the other end? How often have we seen batting him with the tailenders? We've lost the count, haven't we? Don't you think it must be frustrating to see wickets falling down at the other end and you have to bat with the tail, sacrifice your singles, threes, and take single on the 5th or the last ball? But not for Mr. Rahul Dravid. Every time we need, THE WALL is right there for us standing tall, digging the ball right into the ground after it makes the contact with...
